Dear friend,
This week takes us to our final midweek Lenten service at Bethlehem. We will focus on Psalm 143. But wait, you say, with only six Wednesdays, have we left out one of the seven Penitential Psalms? You would be right to say that, so we will begin on Maundy Thursday with Psalm 130. You are invited to the pre-service meal starting at 5:15 pm. Bring anything BUT chips.
Next Sunday is Palm Sunday, which begins the fullest week of the church year. It is also observed as Passion Sunday, so we will hear about Jesus’ entry into Jerusalem and meditate on an extended reading of His suffering on the way to the cross.
The Gospel reading from John 11 yesterday continues to be at the heart of our faith.
“I am the resurrection and the life. Whoever believes in Me will live, even though they die. Everyone who lives and believes in Me will never die. Do you believe this?”
“Yes, Lord, I believe that You are the Christ, God’s Son, the one who is coming into the world.”
In Christ,
Pastor Heckmann
