Dear friend,
We have now marked Six Sundays of Easter this season. In a traditional quirk, the Seventh Sunday will occur after we observe the Ascension of our Lord. You might know that this observance always falls on a Thursday, 40 days after Easter. This week we will give special attention to the Ascension on Wednesday during our GracePlace Bible study. That will come in the middle of our usual lineup with brown bag supper fellowship and our weekly devotion to prayers and intercessions.
As I hope you know by now, this leads to the final two Sundays of my residency as vacancy pastor at Bethlehem. I will conclude my tenure on the Day of Pentecost, May 24. Word is there will be a cake and punch reception after the worship service.
BUT, the farewell will be short-lived as Terry and I are planning to host in our home the first summer gathering of the church on Wednesday, June 10. You might have heard that the regular midweek meetups will go on hold for a bit, with special activities popping up here and there. All the details will be forthcoming, so circle the date and plan on a good time with hamburgers and much more.
In Christ,
Pastor Heckmann
