Dear friend,
We enjoyed another great Sunday at Bethlehem yesterday. It started with a lively Bible study centered on the contrast between the wisdom of the world and the wisdom of God. Having the mind of Christ, you can see through every pretension and delusion and instead live by God’s ways and purposes.
The good times continued in worship as we were reminded of Jesus’ declaration to his followers: You are the salt of the earth…You are the light of the world. Quite astounding when you realize He is talking about you and me! Yet that is the calling we have and the role we fill in line with God’s redemption.
In regard to our essential place in the here and now, I shared this quote: “Your life as a Christian should make nonbelievers question their disbelief in God.” This can be both a mirror and a measuring stick for bringing our authentic faith to the world. How am I doing in bearing witness to Jesus in my daily rounds? What am I doing to show the distinctive nature of life with Christ?
This drives us to the fulfillment of Jesus’ description of all His disciples: “Let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.”
