Dear friend,
We had what I think was a grand day in church yesterday. A good crowd of Bible students gathered for a tough but rewarding look at Ephesians 4. Then our worship included all the parts—remembrance of Baptism, confession and absolution, Scripture, hymns, prayers, and Holy Communion. Since it was the feast day of St. Matthew, the theme was centered on his call to follow Christ and his example to us of faith in Jesus, “who did not come to call the righteous, but sinners.”
We have another opportunity for gathering this Wednesday as we seek midweek refreshment in community. We will continue to examine the Mission of the Church, laying a good foundation in Scripture that will propel us into ever more vigorous witness to our Savior. Your presence and participation would be most welcome for dinner and conversation at 5, study at 6, and all the prayers you want at 7. “Speaking the truth in love, we will grow to become in every respect the mature body of Him who is the head, that is, Christ.”
