Jeff Atkinson has been serving as the President of the Church Council at Bethlehem Lutheran Church since 2021. He can be re-elected to the position again in July 2026. Jeff was raised in Hutchinson, Kansas where he met and married his wife, DeAnne, in 1987. Shortly after, his work with JCPenney brought the couple to Palestine, Texas. This then led them to various locations, including Lufkin, Tyler, and Houston, before they returned to Palestine in 1989.
Jeff currently works as an insurance agent with Texas Farm Bureau where he has been for over 20 years. Prior to that position, he worked three years for Thrivent Lutheran Financial. His fine managerial and organizational skills shine in his role at Bethlehem Lutheran, where he has previously served as President of the Church Council. Jeff also brought his leadership talents to two other congregations before us and is currently the President of the Kiwanis Club.
In his free time, Jeff enjoys gardening with DeAnne. He loves spending time with his three grown sons and their families. Weekends often find Jeff outdoors with the seven grandchildren. His dedication to the community sets a great example of faith and service. We are truly blessed to have him as part of our church family.
