Community Matters! Chili Friday Supports Meals on Wheels Tri-County

We had the pleasure of spending time with Camille Graham, Interim Executive Director of Meals on Wheels-Tri County. Camille began her relationship with MOW as an employee while attending college and joined the team in 1993 as a home-bound coordinator. Camille was recently named Interim Executive Director.

Meals on Wheels is our community partner for our 19th Annual Chili Friday on January 30th, generously supported the event by sharing their expert “food prep” volunteers to help in our kitchen. Again, this year we will donate a large portion of the proceeds from Chili Friday to Meals on Wheels.

Amazingly, Camille shared that in 2025 Meals on Wheels delivered a whopping 48,125 meals to Anderson County residents. Their mission is to help the elderly and disabled in the community who may not have anyone else to assist them.

The nourishment Meals on Wheels provides isn’t only the meals, it’s also the social contact. For many homebound people, the contact with the person delivering the meal is as important a sustenance as the meal itself. Camille shared poignant stories of relationships built over years of delivery service, enhancing the lives of both the volunteer and the meal’s recipient.

Meals on Wheels is located at 200 N Church and serves lunch Monday through Friday, asking for a $3 per meal donation for those 60 years or older and $6 for anyone under 60. They also host dances and other events.

Meals on Wheels needs financial assistance through donations and volunteer drivers. Routes are one-hour long, Monday through Friday, and are local in Palestine. While you may drive as many days as you’d like, most drivers drive once a week. Meals are ready for pickup at 10:30 am and the route is completed in no more than 90-minutes.
