Every chair at the tables was filled when more than 25 men gathered for Men’s Breakfast at Trinity Lutheran Church, 2001 Hunter St, Tyler, TX. Five men from Bethlehem Lutheran Church joined friends from Trinity, including several new attendees, for a morning of food, conversation, and Scripture.
Breakfast tacos with rice and beans gave everyone a good start before Pastor Peter Heckmann led Bible study. The group considered the connection between the eyes and the heart: when the heart is right, our seeing is rightly shaped as well. Excerpts from The Great Themes of Scripture by Father Richard Rohr, quotations from Carl McColam, and Mary Oliver’s poem “Praying” helped guide the conversation.
Fellowship around the table is a gift, and so is the chance to open God’s Word together. As Acts 2:42 reminds us, the early Christians devoted themselves to “the apostles’ teaching and the fellowship.”
Join us for the next Men’s Breakfast at Trinity Lutheran Church on September 19th at 9:00am.
