Join us this week as we begin the Season of Lent with our Ash Wednesday Service at 6:30pm. We will start the evening with fellowship and a meal of delicious soup and sandwiches at 5:15pm provided by our wonderful LWML ladies.
Lent, which means spring, is a time for deep spiritual growth as we prepare to celebrate Easter. Starting on Ash Wednesday, February 18 this year, the Christian church engages in 40 days focused on daily repentance and renewing our devotion to the way of the cross.
Ash Wednesday is our response to the call from the prophet Joel: “Return to the Lord your God, for He is gracious and compassionate, slow to anger and abounding in love.” Traditionally, ashes signify mourning over sin and death, reminding us, “Dust you are and to dust you shall return.” Our only hope of deliverance is in Christ the Redeemer.
