Join us in celebrating Alex and Laeken Pope, a remarkable brother-sister duo whose faith journey is inspiring our community at Bethlehem Lutheran Church. Starting with Alex, we rejoice in his heartfelt decision to accept Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior and to publicly profess his faith through baptism. His inspiration came during a Sunday School lesson by Pastor Ardy, where the discussion on baptism stirred his heart to take this meaningful step.
Meanwhile, Laeken has been serving as an acolyte and started her confirmation classes simultaneously with Pastor Ardy. Her youthful presence in our services shines a hopeful light for us all. Pastor Ardy’s passionate teaching and the engaging Lutheran Enduring Faith Confirmation Curriculum have brought scriptures and the joy of living one’s faith to life for Laeken.
Reflecting on her journey, Laeken beautifully expresses in her statement of faith, “In confirmation class, I learned what it truly means to be saved by grace, to live with purpose, and to trust God—even when I don’t have all the answers. It reminded me that even when life feels dark or messy, Jesus is still shining. His love and presence never leave. Faith isn’t just a part of my life; it’s becoming the foundation of who I am.”
Her favorite verse, John 1:5 (ESV): “The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it,” resonates deeply with her. She reminds us all that even when the world feels heavy, the light of Jesus prevails.
As with many faith journeys, Alex and Laeken’s path has been shaped by time and the supportive embrace of our church family. We are blessed by the wisdom and warmth of our long-time members who continue to nurture and witness to this wonderful family.
