Bridging the Old and New: The Song of Zechariah

Continuing our “Advent Songs of Salvation” series, we turn our attention to a figure who stands as a bridge between the Old Testament prophets and the New Testament fulfillment: Zechariah.

In this second video preview, Pastor Heckman explains to Kandice Herndon why Zechariah is such a pivotal figure in the Advent narrative. As a priest of God rooted in the Old Testament, Zechariah understands the prophecies of old. Yet, through the miraculous birth of his own son, John the Baptist, he sees the dawn of the new era.

Just as Jesus’ conception was a miracle, so was the conception of John to Zechariah and Elizabeth in their old age. Zechariah’s song is one of profound realization. He knows his son will grow up to “prepare the way” for the Messiah. He is privileged to have foreknowledge that the redemption of the world is at hand.

You are Invited: This week, we invite you—and all our neighbors in the community—to listen to the song of a father who sees God’s promises coming true. It is a song of preparation, bridging the gap between waiting for the Lord and witnessing His arrival. We would love to see you there! Click the video above to get a preview of the rich history behind this week’s message.
