Church History

Thank You to Kandice Herndon – Board of Stewardship Chairperson

This week, we celebrate Kandice Herndon, our devoted Board of Stewardship Chairperson at Bethlehem Lutheran Church. With a vibrant career in the broadcasting industry, Kandice’s journey took her from the sunny shores of California to bustling cities like San Francisco, New York, and Los Angeles, before settling in Houston in 1999. Her leadership benefited many small businesses and local organizations, including the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo.

In 2000, Kandice married Ray, and they were blessed with their son, Sam. The family later moved to east Texas, where Sam began teaching at Palestine High School after college. They cherish their time at Lake Frankston, making lasting memories.

Kandice credits her connection with Sam’s early education and involvement with Epiphany Lutheran School and Church in Houston guiding her back into a faith-based life.  After moving from Houston to east Texas, Kandice began searching for a new church.  On her list was Bethlehem Lutheran Church.  There she found a warm, inviting and spiritually driven congregation.  The members truly were living Christian lives. With their time-honored traditions combined with a peaceful and thoughtful approach to worship services, Kandice decided to join Bethlehem and make it her new church home.

Despite a bustling schedule, Kandice is enhancing her musical side in the family. Her husband, Ray, boasts an impressive guitar collection, and Kandice is currently learning the bass guitar, broadening her musical horizons.

We are grateful for Kandice’s contributions and her vibrant spirit, enhancing the life and community of Bethlehem Lutheran Church.  We look forward to what Kandice will bring to our church during her two-year term.
