This past Sunday at Bethlehem Lutheran Church was truly a blessing, as our congregation gathered together to worship and reflect on the powerful story of Lazarus during our Holy Trinity Sunday service. Although our Wednesday Bible Study was rained out, it only added to the inspiration and vigor of our Sunday gathering, where Pastor Bill Dasch led us through enlightening reflections on “Lessons from Lazarus.”
We delved into the remarkable account from John 11:38-44, where Jesus displays his divine authority by raising Lazarus from the dead. This miraculous event underscores Jesus’s mastery over death, his deep compassion for grieving hearts, and the transformative power of faith. It is a glorious prelude to his own resurrection and a promise of eternal life for all believers.
Pastor Dasch’s reflections invited us to ponder some beautiful questions:
1. Jesus comes to where you are! (Eph. 2:1-3,4-5
2. Stones keep you from Jesus (vrs 39)
3. He calls you out of deadness to life. (vrs 43-44)
• If any man be in Christ, he is a new creation ….
• God made us alive with Christ even when we were dead Eph. 2-4)
4. You are free! (vrs. 44)
• Who the Son sets free, you will be free indeed … John 8:36
As we closed our worship, we were sent off into the Mission Field with a joyful reminder to “Put on the new man, love, peace, and hope!” May these reflections continue to uplift and inspire us as a community of faith.
