These things I have spoken to you while I am still with you. But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, he will teach you all things and bring to your remembrance all that I have said to you.
John 14:25-26
This section of John’s Gospel starts with Jesus telling us to not be afraid. He is going to prepare a place for us in the Father’s house. This is so like our Creator, giving us reassurance before things even happen, that when they happen, He is still with us. And how do we frail humans need to know that in the middle of our troubles. The eternal perspective is of ultimate comfort and help when it feels like our world is collapsing.
This reassurance that He knows what is coming is not only for each of us, but also for all of us together. Often, God sees not just each one of us, but all of us together as well. God is the ultimate parent, seeing our futures in each of our lives and our lives as His people affecting the world around us with the Good News of sins forgiven. Because we are believers, we have an effect on people around us in our homes and in our community – both places by how we act and speak. As followers of Jesus, there is also the Holy Helper – the Holy Spirit. In a good way, we are not alone in this life. We know that He knows, and is helping us to live like He lived – caring about the eternal while living each day. He is with us, always. Praise God!
