“Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect.”
Romans 12:2
This verse is confusing at first because we have to live in this world, make a living, and interact with each other. Confusing, until you realize that believers live at two levels – the world’s level, and a spiritual level. Because we have been redeemed by the shed blood of Jesus, we recognize that our lives have a higher purpose than sustaining our bodies, our lives are to, somehow and in someway, bring God glory.
Testing is mentioned. Most of us don’t like tests. But here it is a good process, because it really means ‘to prove to be genuine’ which is a good thing. We often know when something is genuine, and we appreciate quality. That kind of “testing’ we do every day in life we just don’t often think of doing it with our spiritual lives.
God is the real deal. He wants us to be that way too, since we are made in His image. Genuine faith is worth the testing.
